About Polyporus
Polyporus is a relatively rare fungus belonging to the Polyporaceae family, it’s considered to be a vulnerable mushroom in our country (the level of endagering according to the IUCN Red List). It can be found near tree roots and stumps, from which it takes nutrients. Sporocarps of Polyporus mushroom are up to 40 cm wide, made up of multiple branched, scaly caps. Besides being a tasty edible mushroom are also suitable for pickling and has also been a part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. In ”Western countries”, Polyporus was first described in 1801 by Christian H. Persoon.
