About Oyster mushroom
It grows in colder areas around the world, and mostly on warmer spring days to November. Caps of Oyster mushroom resemble a large oyster, after which it received its name oyster mushroom. The oyster mushroom has been known in traditional Chinese medicine for many centuries, where it has been used to solve many health problems and it’s known from Sung dynasty poetry as “the mushroom of flower heaven”. Cultivation of the Oyster mushroom only began in the middle of the last century. Surprisingly not in China, but in Europe(Italy and Hungary). The Oyster mushroom is a rich source of Group B vitamins, essential amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids, and especially polysaccharides ‒ beta glucans, where pleuran is significant, also terpenes with their representative pleurotin. The Oyster mushroom is also a source of natural statins, i.e. substances reducing fat levels in the blood.
